The heart of therapy is a relationship.

WHat is therapy?

While therapy looks different for each therapist and each person seeking therapy, one thing that forms the base of all therapeutic approaches is a trusting and safe relationship. I believe therapy is a collaboration between myself and each client. When it comes to my approach when working with clients, I draw upon several evidence-based therapies. I work with clients using a humanistic and systems-based approach. Beyond the modalities listed below and the tools they have to offer, I also approach each therapeutic relationship from a trauma-informed lens, meaning I want to be aware of the unique experiences that have impacted you throughout your life. I employ behavioral therapy techniques with each of my clients in order to ensure they are equipped to apply the tools that we learn together to their experiences outside of the therapy office.

Modalities I will drawn upon in our work together include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

  • Self-Compassion

  • Mindfulness

  • Exposure and Response Prevention

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy

what to expect

After reaching out, we will schedule a 15-minute phone call to discuss what you are seeking for therapy. This is also a great time for you to ask me any questions about my approach, practice policies, and assess if we may be a good fit for working together. After this we will schedule an online initial appointment.

In the first few sessions following our intake, I will work to better understand your values so we can establish clear goals for your time in therapy. When working with an adolescent, I will schedule a check-in with parents following the first few sessions to discuss how therapy is progressing with your child.

Time and length of sessions varies from person to person, so we will continue to explore on an ongoing basis in further detail to ensure your needs are being met. We will begin with weekly sessions and can discuss alternative session frequencies in more detail as needed.

But part of getting to know yourself is to unknow yourself—to let go of the limiting stories you’ve told yourself about who you are so that you aren’t trapped by them, so you can live your life and not the story you’ve been telling yourself about your life.
